A nutrient-rich superfood and wellness-booster, chia seeds are an excellent source of plant-based protein, antioxidants, omega-3s, fiber, minerals, and energy (naturally gluten-free carbs). Chia seeds were a staple in Aztec and Mayan diets - the word "chia" actually means "strength" in ancient Mayan. Chia seeds are one of the best plant-based protein sources, packing 5 grams per ounce (compared to chicken at 7-8 grams per ounce, that's pretty good!).
